Golden children

This week we celebrate the attitudes of these very special children;

Jared always does the right thing at school. He is exploring the different areas of our classroom and currently enjoying painting lots of different things.

Elise;  I could easily forget Elise is in my class because she is always quietly getting busy in the areas of our classroom. She is a wonderful friend and a pleasure to be around.

Fun in our final week of term

Where have the weeks gone? I really can't believe only 8 weeks ago we had new children starting FS2 class. Look at them now!! We have independent, sensible and hard working children accessing the areas of the classrooms.

Here is the final slide show of this half term. Look out for pumpkins, dragons, colour mixing and worms.

Making faces

Drawing on the pumpkin was a very popular activity this week. Some children wrote their names and other children made faces. What do you think to Alfie's pumpkin, do you think it is scary or friendly?

FS2 find out about Black History Month

FS2 listened to the story called The Colours of Us. If you'd like to hear it again, there's a video below.

We  noticed that everyone in class had a different skin tone, just like in the story.

Looking after our teeth!

In FS2 this week we have been thinking about looking after our teeth.

We discussed how to look after our teeth. All the children said they need to brush their teeth on a morning and at night before bed. They could all explain which foods are bad for our teeth and which foods are healthier for us.

We do know a lot about looking after our teeth but some of us have not been to visit a dentist before. We then talked about what it is like at the dentist, what will happen when you go there and why it is important to visit the dentist every 6 months.

To help us with this we watched a film about going to the dentist and read a story about Kipper visiting the dentist.

Our learning in FS2

We've had another great week. FS2 have been finding letter sounds, recognising numerals and counting pegs.

Drawing inside the box

FS2 love playing with cardboard boxes. When I saw this big one ready to be thrown away, I knew FS2 would like it in class. In this photo you can see Connor inside it with a friend. They are writing and drawing in it.

Our PE topic this term is; 'Sense of Space.'

We have been working on using the space in the hall safely and becoming more spatially aware as we move around.

We have now moved onto developing spatial awareness whilst using the parachute.

This week we've had lots of rain, but we haven't let this stop our fun.
Look out for the "bottle babies" outside and Mr Edensor, our Headteacher, pops in to spend time on our reading sofa.

Making chalk paint was really easy and great fun to use. Some children paint letters and other marks on the shed and the boys with the water sprayers are squirting the sounds they can see.

Big Talk Friday 4th October

I was absolutely delighted with the responses from the children, they were very well prepared - Thank you to the grown ups!

Just a few of the observations and suggestions;

• I think it is a Mummy or Daddy jellyfish protecting the baby
• I wouldn't go there with out a grown up
• The tentacles will sting
• The man is trying to catch the jellyfish
• My mum saw a jellyfish on the sand at the seaside
• The man is saving the jellyfish because he is in danger from the chemicals
• I can see 4 divers
• The man has an oxygen mask on

This week we celebrate great attitude and learning in FS2

Lewis - Since his 5th birthday, Lewis has had such a change of attitude to his learning. He is now exploring the whole classroom and seeing an activity right through to the end. I am really pleased to see this Lewis and I hope it continues.

Summer is one of my busy learners in class. She enjoys spending time in the mark making area and is showing everyone what an great writer she is. 

Our first trip to the library.

On Tuesday this week we had our first trip to Whinmoor library.

We walked there as it is very close to our school.

We had a storytime while we were there and then borrowed a book each, which we brought back to school.

We saw a bus parked at the bus stop on our 
way to the library.

We were excited to get here.

After our storytime we all chose our own books.

There was so many, it was difficult to choose.

The librarian scanned all our books, 
before we could take them out.

We waited patiently for our turn.
